The Eden Mar is a high standard of hotel with spectacular gardens, beautiful pools and great views of the ocean, we stayed bed and breakfast which was nice only a little bit repetative.
In a large complex, toatling 3 hotels, which allowed you to use all the facilities of each hotel, the is a shuttle bus into Funchal which is a must, a stunning city.
Strongly recommend this island for the 40 plus generation and not younger people.

The Eden Mar offered us a really pleasant & relaxing holiday in this busy resort. The staff were friendly & very professional with their attention to detail.
Our room was on the 4th floor and was possibly the most spacious room we have ever had after 20 years of package holidays with all the major tour operators over that period.
A real bonus for me was the advantage of the free internet and because I was in a room overlooking the dining room, I could receive the WiFi signal on the balcony of my room!
The only thing that we didn't know before we travelled was that they charge 1 Euro per day for parasols around the pool. Not a great expense, but it was still an additional charge. If it's free internet & a charge for parasols, then that's fine by me, as opposed to the other way around!

We have just returned from Madeira where we stayed at the Eden Mar Suite Hotel in Funchal. The hotel was great with very nice and helpful staff.
The room was huge and comfortable, clean and a large bathroom with bath and shower. We did however pay extra for a sea view and larger room. We stayed half board and the restaurant had a very good buffet with lots of choice.
The hotel is part of a complex with the hotel Porto Mar next door where the restaurant is actually situated. If you are not staying half board there are two other restaurants on the complex where you can eat if you don't fancy leaving the hotel.
We spent most of our 1 weeks holiday by the large and very pleasant pool area, there are also two indoor pools one in particular at the Porto Mar was beautiful.
At night there was entertainment which was ok and a duet in the bar most nights. I would definitely stay at this hotel again but would also look to stay next door in the Porto Mar.
